Our lifestyle has changed considerably. Dave’s sister, Kate, said that it reminds her of when we were in graduate school. Our friend, Bruce, said that it reminds him of being newly married. Hummmm… and thus a new game is born: Grad School or Newlywed?
In graduate school a minimal, simplistic life is best (except for the books, lots of books). Never have more than you can pack in a friend’s car in anticipation of your next apartment. Being newly married combines big dreams and smaller resources. Building a home and trying to pass as an adult.
Welcome to our next round of Grad School or Newlywed? Issue: curtains.
Our bedroom has a big window – how big, we don’t know — no tape measure in the household. So we estimated it with the iPhone app. We were wrong.
But they are nice curtains and the curtain rod was quite high on the wall. If we owned the house we would move the rod, but we don’t so how about dropping the curtains?
Again, how to measure? Take a map from our trip to Beamish and fold it to the correct length!
Another problem with measurements… need more jute.
Getting closer…
And, we have curtains!!!
So, we ask you, Grad School or Newlywed? Regardless, Martha Stewart, eat your heart out!
Unbelievable! Congratulations, necessities are the mothers of invention!
Very proud of both of you, there is nothing you cannot conquer! I do believe both of you could have survived as pioneers……..hugs, Mom or is it Mum?
Haha! Mom. Always mom
Definitely grad school! Who had time to measure!!
Gotta love the multi-functional map and jute. Good thinkin! Soon you’ll be ready for survival school…
As newly weds we couldn’t afford curtains, so we used pillow cases with a holes on either side to slide a rod through.
That’s a great idea!
You’re so ingenious!
Grad school…after a night at the pub!
Next time, measure with your finger width, palm length, wrist to elbow, or fingertip to shoulder. More reliable, and always have it with you!
Glad to see you settling in so well! Love the unicorn hairstyle on Greta in the early post when she’s standing at the window!
OMG! brilliant!
