A Day in London

We went to London to meet our good friends, Bess and Ed. Unfortunately, they were delayed so we had an extra day to tour around London ourselves. We went to Kensington Palace and Gardens, and then did a River Cruise on the Thames with our good friend Clare and her daughter, Annabelle.

Kensington Gardens is just starting to bloom and is lovely!

Kensington Palace is both a museum and a Royal Residence, steeped in history. It is where Queen Victoria was raised until her coronation.

Queen Victoria’s emeralds:

And this is the room where she was born.

From there we went to see the Princess Diana memorial in Hyde Park. It is a beautiful and fitting tribute that families and children can enjoy.

After that we joined our friends Clare and Annabelle for a water cruise on the River Thames. It’s always interesting seeing a city from the river perspective.

The London Eye:

St. Paul’s Cathedral (with a rainbow!):

The Tower of London and the Tower Bridge:

We ended up meeting Pete for dinner at the Mayflower Pub on the River Thames. This is where the Mayflower was moored prior to heading to what would become the United States in 1620.

It was great to see some sights not often frequented, and places we had not been to before.
